French Open: Kien Keat-Boon Heong book final berth, Chong Wei falters
Japan's Kenichi Tago came from behind to beat national champion Datuk Lee Chong Wei to advance to the final of the French Open at the Pierre De Coubertin Stadium in Paris.
In their semifinal encounter early this morning (Malaysian time), Tago defeated Chong Wei 17-21, 21-16, 21-12 in 61 minutes, according to the tournament website, www.yonexifb.com.
Tago will face Jan O Jorgensen from Denmark in the final tonight beginning at 8pm (Malaysian time). Meanwhile, Malaysia's top pair, Koo Kien Keat/Tan Boon Heong had to sweat it out to overcome compatriots Hoon Thien How/Tan Wee Kiong 21-19, 15-21, 21-18 in 57 minutes.
Kien Keat/Boon Heong will face Gideon Markus Fernaldi/Markis Kido from Indonesia in the final after the Indonesian beat Liu Xiaolong/Qiu Zihan from China 16-21, 21-19, 21-14 in another semifinal encounter.
