The Ministry of Youth and Sports spent about RM3.9 million to promote endurance sports activities in the country this year said the ministry's deputy director-general Datuk Zaidon Asmuni.
He said the ministry organised Level 1, 2, and 3 coaching courses for recreational activities to further promote endurance sports activities among the people.
"The courses conducted are aimed at producing more qualified coaches with expertise in endurance sports and recreational activities. The certificates issued by the ministry with the cooperation of various sports associations, higher learning institutions and private companies can help certificate holders
to seek employment," he said after opening a Sport Rec programme in Air Terjun Camang, near here yesterday.
He added that those with certificates can apply for jobs at recreation centres, hotels, resorts and national service training camps. Meanwhile, about 3,000 participants took part in the Sports Rec programme.
