After successfully defeating Vietnam in the second semi-final match of the 2014 AFF Suzuki Cup at the My Dinh Stadium in Hanoi last night, Harimau Malaya today returned to home ground with their heads held high.
The first batch of the national football squad arrived at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 6.50pm on board a Malaysia Airlines flight escorted by Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) secretary-general, Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin.
The second batch arrived at 7.50pm on board a Vietnam Airlines flight.
However, Astro AWANI observed that not many fans were present to greet the national team upon their return, although the heroes received loud cheers from the airport patrons who were present at the time.
Yesterday, Harimau Malaya defeated Vietnam 4-2 in the second leg of the semi-final match of the 2014 AFF Suzuki Cup.
The dignified win on opponent’s ground has guaranteed the Dollah Salleh-guided squad to advance to the final match with a 5-4 aggregate.
