Malaysia Cup matches may be postponed if the Air Pollutants Index (API) reading at the venues is above 150, said FA of Malaysia (FAM) deputy president Datuk Seri Afandi Hamzah.
Afandi, who is also FAM's Local Competitions Committee chairman, said the API would be monitored hourly on match days and that the match commissioner would make a decision as to whether a match should proceed or not.
"We will also get advice from the Department of Environment and the Health Ministry on the matter. If there is any postponement, new dates will be decided by the Local Competitions Committee," he said in a statement here today.
The prestigious tournament kicked off only last Friday and so far eight matches have been played.
Eight more are scheduled over the weekend with Kedah hosting Terengganu and and Kelantan taking on Felda United on Friday.
On Saturday, the fixtures are Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) II versus Lions XII, Perak vs Sarawak, Armed Forces vs JDT, T-Team vs Selangor, Police vs Penang and PKNS FC vs Pahang.
