The individual to be appointed as the High Performance Sports (HPS) director has no interests in agencies under the Youth and Sports Ministry.
Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said the individual will act as his adviser by monitoring the effectiveness of programmes conducted by the National Sports Council (MSN) and the National Sports Institute (ISN).
"The HPS director will also function as the auditor for both sports bodies as the ministry has given them large funds.
"Should I appoint an individual from either the MSN or the ISN, I will not be able to obtain the true picture.
"We need a HSP director as we have spent lot of money on the MSN and the ISN and must ensure correct auditing," he told reporters after launching a new Rakan Muda programme, here Tuesday.
Khairy said the name of the HSP director would be announced in one month and that a Key Performance Index (KPI) would also be set for the individual.
The creation of the HPS director's post was in line with the restructuring of the MSN and the ISN to ensure that they play their roles more effectively, he was quoted as saying on Monday.
