National hockey player Muhammad Razie Abdul Rahim and national swimmer Chui Lai Kwan were crowned Universiti Putra Malaysia's (UPM) Sportsman and Sportswoman, here, today.

Both received RM1,500 and a trophy from UPM deputy vice chancellor (Students' Affairs & Alumni) Prof Dr Mohammad Shatar Sabran.

Muhammad Razie was chosen for his outstanding performance in leading the UPM hockey squad to win the Majlis Sukan Universiti Malaysia (MASUM) 2012 title at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) and played a role in the national team that won a bronze medal Asia Hockey Challenge in Doha, Qatar, last year.

Lai Kwan, 22, was the obvious choice for the award after winning 13 gold medals at the MASUM games.

She was also helped the country win three gold and silver medal at the Asean University Games (AUG) in Laos, last year.
