Indonesia Open: Chong Wei, mixed doubles pair march into quarterfinals

World number one Datuk Lee Chong Wei and mixed doubles pair Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying marched into the quarterfinals of the Indonesian Open Premier Super Series held at the Istora Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta.
However, under fire men's doubles pair Koo Kien Keat/Tan Boon Heong suffered yet another defeat in a major competition after going down to Alvent Yulianto Chandra/Markis Kido from the host country, 21-23, 15-21.
Chong Wei, the country's only men's singles player left in the competition, beat India's B. Sai Praneeth 21-18, 21-12 in straight sets to set up a date with Boonsak Ponsana of Thailand who had beaten Sho Sasaki of Japan 21-13, 21-19.
Chan-Goh meanwhile, kept the Malaysian flag flying in the doubles competition by beating South Korea's Yoo Yeon Seong/Eom Hye Won 22-20, 21-16.
The Malaysian pair will face Ahmad Tontowi/Liliyana Natsir from Indonesia in the quarterfinals.
Malaysia did not send any players in the women's singles or doubles.
