Indonesia prevents Kien Keat-Boon Heong from lifting French Open title

An unseeded pair from Indonesia prevented the top Malaysian pair of Koo Kien Keat/Tan Boon Heong to emerge as the doubles champion in the French Badminton Open final at the Pierre De Coubertin Stadium, Paris.
In the match early this morning (Malaysian time), the fourth seeded Kien Keat/Boon Heong were shocked by Gideon Markus Fernaldi/Markis Kido who easily won the game in straight sets of 16-21 and 18-21 in 33 minutes, according to the tournament website www.yonexifb.com.
Meanwhile, Jan O Jorgensen from Denmark emerged as the French Open champion after defeating Kenichi Tago from Japan 21-19 and 23-21 in the men's singles category.
The women's singles title went to Wang Shixian from China who beat Porntip Buranaprasertsuk from Thailand 21-18 and 21-18.
In the women's doubles category, the title was lifted by Bao Yixin/Tang Jinhua from China who beat compatriots Tian Qing-Zhao Yunlei 21-13 and 21-17.
The mixed doubles title went to the world number one pair of Zhang Nan/Zhao Yunlei who also beat their compatriots Xu Chen/Jin Ma in straight sets 28-26 and 21-17.
