The Youth and Sports Ministry has made it compulsory for every state football association and club to form an integrity committee, the Dewan Negara was told Tuesday.
Its minister, Khairy Jamaluddin said this could help the gathering of information and evidence on corruption, including bookie activities.
"This is a form of engagement, education and enforcement espoused by the ministry as well as that of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).
"FAM itself has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Malaysian Institute of Integrity in efforts to curtail corruption in national football," he said when winding up debate on the Supply Bill 2014 for his ministry.
To a question from Senator Datuk Seri Ali Rustam, said the Football Development Fund set up in 2010 had a capital injection of RM10 million per annum.
The sitting continues Wednesday.
