JDT defend Super League title, qualify for 2016 AFC Cup

The victory of the Southern Tigers was in part aided by Pahang's 1-3 loss to Terengganu in an away game.

As league champions, JDT took home a cash prize of RM750,000 and the Super League Cup which was presented by the Football Association of Johor (PBNJ) president Datuk Ismail Karim to team captain Safiq Rahim.

PBNJ Royal Patron Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim and his wife, Che Puan Khaleeda Bustamam were also present to witness the match.

The league title success also earned JDT a berth to the 2016 Asian Football Confederation Cup competition.

In the match last night, Felda United opened the score with goals by Shahril Mohd Saad in the fourth minute and a penalty kick by Indra Putra Mahayuddin in the 11th minute before JDT reduced the deficit via a penalty by Luciano Figueroa in the 34th minute.

At the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium, Terengganu beat Pahang 3-1 and placed the visitors as runners-up in the title chase behind JDT.

Terengganu's three goals were netted by Issey Nakajima-Farran in the 14th minute, Mohd Ashari Samsudin (32nd minute) and Mohd Nasril Izzat Jalil in the 66th minute while Pahang pulled back a consolation goal via Damion Delano Stewart in the 47th minute.

Selangor also confirmed their third placing in the Super League after defeating Perak 2-0 in Ipoh with goals from Ahmad Hazwan Bakri in the 27th minute and Guilherme De Paula in the 70th minute.

At Shah Alam Stadium, the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) team met stiff opposition from the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) before winning narrowly 3-2.

The three goals of 'The Cops' squad were netted by Mohd Afif Amiruddin in the 29th minute, Dramane Traore (40th minute) and Ali Ashfaq in the 63rd minute while Jerry Palacious scored two goals for ATM in the seventh and 44th minutes.

Singapore's club representative, Lions XII had a comfortable 3-0 win over bottom-of-the-rung team in the league, Sime Darby FC at Jalan Besar Stadium.

Singapore's goals came from Safuwan Baharudin (12th minute) penalty kick by Muhammad Khairul Amri Mohamad Kamal (45th minute) and Muhammad Hafiz Abu Sujad (73rd minute).

At the Sultan Muhammad the 1V Stadium in Kota Baharu, the Kelantan team also met strong opposition from Sarawak before winning 4-3.

'The Red Warriors' goals were scored by Mohd Nor Hazrul Mustafa (10th minute, Khairul Izwan Rosli (minit ke-45), Austin Amutu (minit ke-73) and Gilmar Da Santos (84th minute).
