Defending champions Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) mauled Kedah 5-0 in a Super League match at their home turf the Tan Sri Dato Hassan Yunos, Larkin, last night.
The Super League season resumed Friday after a long break for the Ramadan month and the Aidifitri celebration.
With last night's result, the Southern Tigers were back at the top of the league with 33 points after 13 matches, two points more than nearest rivals Felda United who also secured three full points on Saturday.
National team captain Safiq Rahim who stirred a controversy after suddenly announcing his retirement from national duty this week, netted a brace, in the 27 and 40th minutes respectively.
JDT coached by Mario Gomez could not wait for more goals in the second half and were duly rewarded when Marcos Antonio found their third in the 66th minutes while Jorge Pereyra Diaz rounded off the night in style with the team's second brace (79th, 84th).
In JENGKA, Felda United edged Perak 2-1 at the Tun Abdul Razak Stadium.
The Fighters goals were netted by Lutfulla Turaev in the 23rd minute and Zah Rahan Krangar in the 27th minute while The Bos Gaurus' by Mohd Fazrul Hazli Mohd Khadri in the 86th minute.
In SHAH ALAM, hosts Selangor also beat Police by the same margin.
The Cops were the first to score when Guilherme De Paula Lucrecio was on target in the 28th minute but The Red Giants pulled level in the 52nd minute thanks to Ahmad Hazwan Bakri.
Their import player Ugochukwu Ukah clinched victory when he found the net in the very last minute.
