Jeremy could win berth for Monsoon Cup

Defending champion Jeremy Koo of KFC Malaysia/Koo Racing Team and Hazwan Hazim, the skipper of Permai Hotel Match Racing Team, will battle it out for the 2012 Malaysian Match Racing Championship
(MMRC) at the Ri-Yaz Heritage Marina Resort & Spa in Pulau Duyong today.
Jeremy and Hazwan won all of their three respective races at the semifinal to book a date in the final.
Hazwan overcame Royal Malaysian Navy Match Racing Team 2 while Jeremy overcame Masyuri Rahmat's Royal Malaysian Navy Match Racing Team 1.
Though Hazwan has been in splendid form in the fourth circuit of the MMRC, Jeremy remains the front runner to capture the sole wildcard spot that will give him the right to represent the country in the 2012 Monsoon Cup that will be held in Pulau Duyong from Dec 3-8.
After three circuits, Jeremy leads the overall points standing with 69 while Masyuri who dropped out of contention yesterday is in second spot with 66 points while Hazwan is at the third spot with 60 points.
Based on the points awarded in today's final, (25 for the winner and 22 for the runner-up), Jeremy has more or less sealed his spot for the Monsoon Cup as despite finishing second, Hazwan would not be able to surpass his total points.
Six teams took part throughout the MMRC 2012 which featured four circuits.
The Monsoon Cup, meanwhile, is the final leg of the prestigious Alpari World Match Racing Tour, regarded as the F1 of sailing.
