The Road Transport Department (JPJ) is now ready to arrange transportation for the more than 13,000 participants of the Kuala Lumpur SEA Games 2017 (KL2017) comprising athletes, sports officials and technical officers.

JPJ Director-General Datuk Seri Nadzri Siron said as the Transport Committee appointed in conjunction with the meet, the JPJ would provide and arrange transportation services for the SEA Games beginning Aug 19 until 30 and the ASEAN Para Games 2017 beginning Sept 17 until 23.

"The JPJ will ensure that transport management for the Games runs smoothly from the date of arrival of the participants, movement to the venue of the competition and participants' accommodation until the date of return of the participants to their home country," he said at a media conference here today.

He said a total of 1,200 JPJ personnel from throughout the country with assistance from 779 volunteers would be involved in ensuring that the Games ran smoothly.

"The JPJ will provide 300 buses which will provide services throughout the Games," he added.

Nadzri said although the JPJ was assigned to handle transportation matters during the Games, JPJ services throughout the country would run as usual.

"JPJ enforcement would run as usual with the focus given to serious offences which could cause road accidents.

"At the same time, enforcement personnel would assist the traffic policemen in ensuring the smooth flow of traffic through the Games period," he said.
