Julian Yee has secured a spot in the upcoming 2018 Winter Olympics after placing sixth in the 2017 Nebelhorn Trophy in Germany on Saturday.
The 20-year-old, who was the first Malaysian representing the country at the ISU World Championships in 2016 and also won a SEA Games gold medal in the first-ever figure skating event earlier this year, recorded a total of 220.67 points to finish in the top seven.
In doing so, he became the second Malaysian in history to qualify for the Winter Olympics and will join 18-year-old alpine ski racer Jeffrey Webb in PyeongChang, South Korea, next year.
Shortly after achieving the feat, Yee took to Instagram to express gratitude for the support he has received.
"It has been a long, tiring and meaningful journey," he wrote.
"The milestone has been achieved and Malaysia will for sure be at the 2018 Winter Olympics!
"Thank you to everyone who has supported me and given me the strength. Without you guys, it would be impossible."
