Kedah's 3-2 victory over Sarawak in their Super League match at the Darul Aman Stadium here last night is a fitting Chinese New Year gift for Chief Coach Tan Cheng Hoe and team manager Datuk Jeffery Low, said Kedah player Mohd Syazwan Zainon.
He said his teammates had agreed to do their best in the match because they wanted to present a win to Tan and Jeffery in conjunction with the Chinese New Year today.
Yet to recover fully from a knee injury, he said he did not expect to be given the chance to play as he had only clocked four days of practice.
"With the high confidence of the coaches, teammates and supporters I tried my best... as we know the Super League competition this year is quite challenging.
"The presence of the Sultan of Kedah, Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'Adzam Shah to watch the match also boosted our spirit to play as best as possible," he told reporters here, last night.
In last night's action, Kedah came from behind at 1-2 in the first half to win 3-2 via two goals in one minute.
