With just 17 days left for the start of the Kuala Lumpur SEA Games 2017 (KL2017), Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin wants all those involved with the biennial games to redouble efforts for the final push to ensure that everything is delivered on time.

According to the KL2017 official website www.kualalumpur2017.com.my news feed, Khairy today chaired the final meeting of the SEA Games 2017 Organising Committee at his office in Putrajaya with all heads of the various 15 sub-committees reporting on their final state of progress.

Khairy said that it was imperative for all sub-committees to go through the minute details of their work order as more often than not, it has a co-relation to the whole system.

"All infrastructures related to KL2017 are already 98 per cent completed," he said as quoted in the news.

He also hoped that the pre-SEA Games review of the various shortcomings would have been addressed.

Among the issues which were raised during the meeting was the need to draw up a special or alternative route for the transportation of athletes and officials.

The timing of these transportation schedules should also be clearly indicated so that it will not have an adverse effect on the timing of the competition.

There was also the requirement to identify the drop off and pick up zones for public transportation.

Among the upcoming events which will be organised in the next two weeks in the run up to KL2017 would be the launch of the official theme song which will be sung by Dayang Nurfaizah on Aug 8.

This will be followed by the launching of the International Broadcast Centre (IBC) and the flag-handing ceremony by Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Aug 10 and then the balloon ride for the SEA Games Torch a day later.

The SEA Games will unofficially open on Aug 14 with men's football.
