Koo-Tan advance to the China Open quarterfinals
Top national pair Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong marched into the quarterfinals of China Open in Shanghai, China yesterday.
The world number four pair defeated Liu Xiaolong-Qiu Zihan of China 21-8, 21-19 to set a date with Taiwanese pair Chen Hung Ling-Lu Chia Bin.
Chen and Lu earlier toppled another Malaysian doubles Gan Teik Chai-Ong Soon Hock 21-4, 21-14.
In the men's singles event, Chong Wei Feng continued his good performance by defeating Hans-Kristian Vittinghus of Denmark 21-13, 21-19 to set foot in round 16.
However, French Open champion Liew Daren was outclassed 21-13, 21-18 by qualifier Gao Huan of China.
