National badminton singles head coach Datuk Misbun Sidek sees ace shuttler Datuk Lee Chong Wei to be in stable condition ahead of the World Championship in Glasgow, Scotland from Aug 21-27.
He said Chong Wei's training was going according to plan although he cautioned that it had only been a week since he began his role, and could not be too drastic on preparations for the tournament.
"What I see (Chong Wei) needs help with, is in the aspect of awareness towards opponents who always want to beat him," he told reporters when attending the Badminton Association of Malaysia's (BAM) Hari Raya celebrations here Saturday.
Misbun said Chong Wei needed to be aware of the challenges he would face as he was a target for other players.
Chong Wei, when asked to comment on his preparations for the World Championship said he was in the best shape possible.
He said success was something which would be determined later. However, the important thing was to be completely prepared in terms of playing style, mentality and cooperation with other players.
"We have done the best preparation and will go there three weeks early...only a small team involving me and two doubles players. We will fight all out for the country," he added.
Asked if he would participate in another competition before the World Championship, Chong Wei said a decision would only be made after discussing with Misbun.
“Whatever decision my coach makes will be for my own good.”
