Outsiders should not interfere in the selection of players but rather give head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal the freedom to select his players said national team manager Datuk Seri Subahan Kamal.

Subahan said Rajagobal knows what he is doing and knows the quality of the players chosen to don the national jersey.

"I feel there is no need to set up a player selection committee because such a move will only curtail the creativity and ability of a coach," he said when commenting on a proposal by sports critic, Prof Emeritus Tan Sri Khoo Kay Kim to form a selection committee to select players for international duty.

Subahan believes Rajagobal had made the right choice when naming his 25-member squad to face Qatar in their opening 2015 Asian Cup Qualifiers in Doha on February 6.

"Players or outsiders should not question the decision of the head coach because he would know how best to pick his team. There is no question of favouritism.

"In fact, the player who claimed that he was not given an opportunity is the same player who had turned down a national call up in the past," he said.

Subahan said the Football Association of Malaysia itself has trusted Rajagobal to pick his squad, without any interference from any individuals.

Newspaper reports claimed that Rajagobal should have given Kelantan skipper Badri Radzi an opportunity to be among those called up for training.

Rajagobal's decision to not include Nazmi Faiz Mansor who is now with Club S.C. Beira-Mar and Ahmad Fakri Saarani who is playing for Atletico Sport Clube Reguengos in Portugal, was also questioned.
