Mercedes AMG Petronas driver, Lewis Hamilton is aiming for the title at the by Malaysian Grand Prix in Sepang International Circuit this weekend.
Hamilton is confident about as Sepang was among his favorite circuits.
"My target is to win. I never won any title in Sepang. My best ranking was the second place in 2007, so that being the case I really want to win," said Hamilton.
At last year’s grand prix, the 28-year-old driver had to settle for third place, while Ferrari's Fernando Alonso took the champion’s podium.
In contrast to other drivers, Hamilton prefers the Sepang circuit for its dry condition.
"I prefer a dry circuit, it’s a challenge for the Mercedes engine and tires, so I need to make sure I give my best performance. I need enough water and I'm definitely ready."
This will be the first season Hamilton teams up with Mercedes AMG Petronas after leaving Mclaren Mercedes.
In the last race at Melbourne Australia, Hamilton only managed to finish at 5th place.
Meanwhile, Hamilton's team mate, Nico Rosberg is hoping for the weather will be in their favour. He said, for now rain would be a good option as it would allow better track performance.
“If it rains, we will be faster and help us to secure the top position," said Rosberg.
Commenting on the target, this German-born driver puts in a more realistic position.
“Our best target is fifth place. If everything goes well, maybe we get to be on the podium.
“It is good because we are racing in a place where it can be considered as home as well as getting the support from everyone, so I'll try to do the best," he said.
