Former national and Perak star striker Khalid Jamlus, who has had to auction off some of his prized football possessions due to financial constraints, could well be back to play a role in the country's footballing industry.
This is following positive developments after his meeting with Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Senator Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal.
The 43-year-old Khalid said that among the topics discussed were his current plight as well as to find ways on how to tap into his vast experience as a player.
"Let's wait and see. The deputy minister has proposed ways to help me move on and his suggestions are very good and something that I've been waiting for. They (the proposals) have to do with football," he told a press conference after the meeting at the Menara Kementeria Belia dan Sukan here today.
Also present were National Athletes Welfare Foundation (Yakeb) chairman Datuk Noorul Ariffin Abdul Majeed.
Meanwhile, Wan Ahmad Fayhsal said they would confirm the kind of assistance that would be channelled to Khalid.
"He (Khalid) is an asset to the football industry as he has a B coaching licence. I need to discuss with the minister (Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican) first," he said.
Recently, Khalid was reported to have auctioned off his Golden Boot, which he won 18 years ago for RM10,5000, via his Facebook page along with other personal items such as posters, jerseys and medals won throughout his career due to financial constraints after being unemployed for three years.
