Malaysia beat Oman 4-1 in second match of Asian champions trophy meet
The national hockey men's squad registered their second win in the Asian Champions Trophy Hockey tournamment as they came back from a goal down to defeat Oman 4-1 at the Al Rayyan Hockey Stadium in Doha, Qatar late Friday.
They had earlier whipped Japan by the same scoreline on Thursday.
Paul Revington's boys' however were given a scare after Oman's Bait Jandal opened accounts through a penalty corner in the 16th minute.
Seven minutes later, national forward Mohd Faizal Saari's equalised after he converted a penalty corner before Mohd Razie Rahim doubled Malaysia's advantage through a field goal in the 28th minute.
Mohd Razie bagged his second goal in the match in the 62nd minute before veteran Tengku Ahmad Tajuddin Tengku Ahmad Jalil wraped up the match with the fourth goal in the 66th minute.
The national side, however, have a tougher task ahead as they will play against last year's runners-up Pakistan on Sunday.
Besides Malaysia, Japan, Oman and Pakistan, the other teams competing in the tournament are defending champions India and China.
Malaysia edged Japan 1-0 to bag the bronze medal in the first edition of the tournament in Ordos, China, last year.
