PETALING JAYA: The question as to whether the upcoming Malaysia Cup matches need rescheduling would only be known once the Election Commission (EC) decides on the key dates of the 15th general election (GE15) on Oct 20.
Malaysian Football League (MFL) chief executive officer Stuart Ramalingam said the announcement of Parliament's dissolution on Monday by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob could have a bearing on the fixtures of the Malaysia Cup scheduled for kick-off on Oct 25.
"With the knockout stage in play (involving 16 teams), every match is very important as we expect huge crowds at the stadiums," he told a media conference after an MFL First Instance Body (FIB) Club Licensing meeting here today.
Stuart said home venue security was a concern for MFL during this period.
"This is because security forces (manning stadium security) would be deployed for other (GE15) tasks from time to time," he added.
