Malaysia must win big against Vietnam in the first semi-final match of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2014 at Shah Alam Stadium tomorrow night.
Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said the Harimau Malaya squad of coach Dollah Salleh must win by at least two goals.
"I hope Malaysia can win big in the match at Shah Alam Stadium tomorrow. We have to take a big lead to Hanoi, Vietnam (for the second semi-final match).
"The strategy is to make Vietnam chase the game in Hanoi," he told reporters after being a panelist at "#Kata Kita Townhall "Kehamonian Kaum" programme with legal practitioner JR Tey here, today.
Malaysia advanced to the semi-final of AFF Suzuki Cup 2014 after beating Singapore 3-1 away last week to become group runners-up.
Khairy said Malaysia must win by a comfortable margin at Shah Alam Stadium tomorrow to put the pressure on Vietnam in the second semi-final match in Hanoi.
"Put the pressure on them and not us. We have to win by at least 2-0," he added.
Malaysia must also avoid conceding goals because the away goal ruling gives the advantage to the visiting team.
The minister hopes that Malaysia can end the year with a bang by winning the AFF Suzuki Cup 2014, thus repeating the achievement in 2010.
