Harimau Malaya A (National Under-23 squad) Head Coach, Ong Kim Swee said he did not want to think too much about a revenge mission when his charges take on Myanmar's U-23 team in their second match of the 2013 Merdeka Cup Football Tournament at the Darul Makmur Stadium, here, tomorrow night.
The 42-year old Melaka-born coach instead wants his Young Tigers side to maintain their performance as they did when edging neighbours Singapore 1-0 in the opening match, yesterday.
"We played against them (Myanmar) last year and the majority of their players are from the same side. I believe it's going to be a tough match as the held the Thais to 1-1 draw yesterday.
"I don't believe in revenge...When you think about revenge, that means it's a very bad feeling, so we have to learnt from our defeat and try to get a good result against them," he told reporters, here, today.
Myanmar dashed Kim Swee's hopes for the side to book their berth in the inaugural 2014 Asian Cup U-22 tournament after edged they edged Harimau Malaya 2-1 in the final match of the qualifying round in Myanmar, last year.
Kim Swee, who guided the same side to win the gold medal in the 2011 SEA Games in Indonesia, also reminded his charges to be wary of three Myanmar players, namely skipper, Kyaw Zayar Win; midfielder, Kyi Lin and striker, Kyaw Ko Ko, who could pose a major threat to his backline players.
"All of them are good in dribbling the ball, very fast besides creating a lot of problem in the opponent's backline...So, we have to beware of these three players.
"We also have to be cautious with Myanmar because their players have played together for the whole of last year...What we'll need is to improve our game as what we showedagainst Singapore," Kim Swee said, adding that he will makes several changes for the match but it heavily depend on the weather and pitch condition.
Meanwhile, Myanmar's team's manager, Tin Myint Aung said his will do their best as what they had demonstrated against Thailand, which saw both side share the spoils.
"My players complained about being fatigued after playing Thailand in the clogged pitch, where they had to chase the ball which kept getting stuck everywhere. But I hope they will regained their fitness when we playe against Malaysia," he said.
