Malaysian mixed martial artist Audreylaura “Ice Comet” Boniface will make her first ONE Championship appearance in over a year at ONE: REIGN OF VALOR in Yangon, Myanmar on Friday, 8 March.
The 29-year-old atomweight competitor takes on Myanmar’s Bozhena Antoniyar, and she will be hoping to upset the hometown hero as she seeks her first career victory in the world’s largest martial arts organization.
Bozhena Antoniyar, a two-time Myanmar National Boxing Champion, will be looking to put her recent defeat in the past and impress her nation yet again.
In February 2018, the Yangon-based athlete made her debut and stunned her hometown audience with a 24-second knockout victory against Shwe Sin. That set the record for the fastest stoppage victory in ONE Championship’s women’s history.
Boniface, meanwhile, fell short in her past two matches, but with fellow ONE Championship athletes AJ “Pyro” Lias Mansor, Hisyam “Zephyrus” Samsudin, and Ann “Athena” Osman by her side, confidence should be instilled.
The card will feature another women’s atomweight clash, as the Philippines’ Jomary “The Zamboanginian Fighter” Torres squares off against China’s Lin “Fighting Sister” Heqin.
Torres is aiming to return to her winning ways, while her opposition will be looking to build upon her 16-2-1 professional record in her promotional debut.
Also, in the main event, reigning ONE Welterweight World Champion Zebaztian “The Bandit” Kadestam will make his first title defense against Kazakhstan’s Georgiy “Knight” Kichigin.
The 28-year-old Swede is in search of knockout number 10, but is well aware that his opponent has been undefeated since November 2014.
In addition to those three bouts, another trio of matches has been announced.
Myanmar’s Phoe “Bushido” Thaw should set the roof on fire when he battles Indonesia’s “The Iceman” Yohan Mulia Legowo.
Former ONE Bantamweight World Title challenger Toni “Dynamite” Tauru will make his return against Canada’s Gary “Saint Lion” Mangat, and Cambodia’s Rin Saroth will duke it out with Aung La N Sang’s training partner, Tial Thang.
More bouts will be revealed on a later date, but Myanmar is guaranteed another night of world-class martial arts action.
