National shuttler, Datuk Lee Chong Wei advanced to the final of the Malaysia Open today at the Perpaduan Stadium, Petra Jaya, Sarawak.
In the semifinals, Chong Wei beat Vincent Wong of Hong Kong 21-12, 21-9.
Chong Wei will now meet his arch rival Lin Dan of China in the final tomorrow.
In his semifinal tie before 4,000 fans at the stadium today, Chong Wei did not have much problems against his opponent, winning in 21-12, 21-9 in 40 minutes.
The clash in the final tomorrow will be all the more memorable because in 2006, Chong Wei dashed Lin Dan's hopes of clinching the title at the same venue in an epic battle.
Chong Wei was down 13-20 in the rubber set but overcame the odds to beat the Chinese badminton superstar 23-21. He had won the first set 21-18 but lost the second 18-21.
Earlier, Lin Dan overcame fifth-seeded Son Wan Ho of South Korea in a thrilling three-setter to advance to the final.
