Local football fans erupted with glee as the national football squad advanced to the finals of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2014 after defeating Vietnam 5-4 on aggregate in the semi-finals at Hanoi, Vietnam.
The excitement was especially evident at street stalls, mamak restaurants and sport cafes throughout the nation, with cheers ringing out in the evening as fans watched the live telecast of the match on television screens.
Cheers and laughter were also heard elsewhere as fans watched the match with family and friends in the comfort of their own homes.
Up until this morning, more than eight hours after the match ended, social media sites were still abuzz with Malaysians expressing how proud they are with the Harimau Malaya squad and encouraging the team to reach greater heights.
On Twitterville, #Malaysia, #HarimauMalaya and #AFFSuzukiCup are still topping then entry charts and it looks like it will keep on the momentum until the finals.
