LONDON: Manchester City's attack continues to score goals at will as Pep Guardiola's side moved to the top of the Premier League with a 4-0 win at home to Southampton on Saturday.

Erling Haaland scored one goal in another comfortable win for Man City, who have now netted 33 goals in just nine league matches, Xinhua reported.

Joao Cancelo (20 minutes) and Phil Foden (32 minutes) put Man City 2-0 ahead before halftime, before Riyad Mahrez and Haaland finished the scoring in the second half.

Graham Potter's tenure at Chelsea continues to look promising as his side cruised past managerless Wolves 3-0.

Chelsea swamped their rivals, who drop deeper into trouble after Kai Havertz ruined their first half work in the third minute of injury time, before Christian Pulisic and Armando Broja sealed the win with strikes in the 54th and 89th minute.

Harry Kane's 33rd minute header from a Son Heung Min cross gave Tottenham a 1-0 win away to Brighton who played well, but lacked a cutting edge and saw their best chances denied by Hugo Lloris.

Newcastle United hit five goals past Brentford in a 5-1 win at St James' Park, which lifts Eddie Howe's side up to fifth.

Bruno Guimaraes scored in the 21st minute to put Newcastle ahead and Jacob Murphey doubled the lead seven minutes later. Although Ivan Toney's 54th minute penalty against his former club, gave Brentford hope, it was snuffed out by Guimaraes' second just two minutes later, before Miguel Almiron and Ethan Pinnock's own goal rounded off the scoring.

Bournemouth stretched their unbeaten run to five games, while Leicester are still in trouble after Bournemouth's 2-1 win.

Patson Daka put Leicester ahead after 10 minutes, but Philip Billling on 67 minutes and Ryan Christie four minutes later gave Bournemouth three big points and keep Leicester second from bottom.
