Match-fixing probe: 'Ah Chong' released on MACC bail

A former national football player who was detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for seven days to facilitate investigations into match-fixing in the 2017 Premier League , was released on Friday.
Magistrate Nik Isfahanie Tasnim Wan Ab Rahman allowed the 43-year-old man, nicknamed ''Ah Chong'', to be released on the commission''s bail of RM50,000 with three sureties.
The man, who had also played for the Negeri Sembilan and Selangor football teams, was remanded since April 15 to facilitate investigations under Section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009 on suspicion of match-fixing involving the Malaysian Indian Sports Council-Malaysia Indian Football Association (MISC-MIFA).
He was represented by counsel Ridha Abdah Subri.
On April 6, MACC arrested three MISC-MIFA players, including an import player for allegedly taking bribes between RM10,000 and RM30,000 from a bookie to fix matches.
