Merdeka Cup: Thailand beat Singapore 1-0 to boost chances of making the final

Thailand boosted its chances of qualifying for the Merdeka Cup final after beating Singapore 1-0 at the Darul Makmur Stadium, here, today.

After managing just a 1-1 draw against Myanmar in their first match on Saturday, coach Kairung Threejagsang's boys were determined to collect full points as they went in search of an early goal.

Despite missing a number of opportunities early in the match, Pakorn Parmpak made his strike count in the 34th minute to ensure his team's revival in the competition.

Thailand will play Malaysia in their final preliminary match on Wednesday while Singapore who are already out of the running for a place in the final, meet Myanmar.
