SHE may barely be a year into her new role as ONE Championship’s Vice President, but Miesha “Cupcake” Tate believes that there is much more room for ONE to explore across Asia.
The 32-year-old, who relocated from the United States to Singapore early this year, has played a pivotal role in the organization’s most outstanding year yet. And she thinks The Home of Martial Arts will continue to unearth the finest and youngest World-Class athletes throughout the rest of the year.
“Without a doubt, there’s room for a tremendous amount of growth,” the former World Champion said.
“If you look at the population of Asia, it makes up for more than half of the world,” Tate said. “I believe we’ve only explored the tip of the iceberg in the Asian martial arts scene.”
Tate has also offered her expertise to Rich Franklin’s ONE Warrior Series (OWS), where she occasionally commentates.
With nine years of experience in her professional career, the Washington native certainly knows how to separate average talents from potential stars of the sport.
And according to her, OWS is the very best platform for up and coming martial artists to ply their trade.
“I’ve seen some of the finest up-and-coming talents first-hand, and I’m excited to see these prospects and future World Champions in action,” Tate added.
“What ONE Championship is doing is something that has never been done before. It’s very unique, and they’re making an exclusive platform to allow our future generations to become heroes, allowing them to dream and continue motivating others through what they do best.”
Up next in a record-breaking year for the promotion is ONE: DAWN OF HEROES in Manila, Philippines on Friday, 2 August. That show will be followed by OWS 7, which takes place on Tuesday, 6 August.
“The rest of the year is certainly stacked,” Tate added. “And there are a lot of great bouts coming up, which are packed with talented athletes.”
Several other spectacles such as ONE: CENTURY – the organization’s 100th event – will complete the third and fourth quarter of the year.
When asked to describe this phenomenon in one word, Tate replied, “unbelievable.”
