The Youth and Sports Ministry is ready to tighten the standard operating procedures (SOP) for sports activities based on the current situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, said Deputy Minister Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal.
"If we look at the Sivagangga cluster, for example, it is getting more serious, there may be other methods to tighten the existing SOP as the ministry awaits for the announcement at the end of this month.
"So far, we are following the SOP and instructions issued by the National Security Council (MKN) and until now the ministry has not received information to review the SOP outlined earlier," he told a press conference after meeting with Kelantan natives at Dewan Kemas, Lubok Jong Pasir Mas here yesterday.
In another development, Wan Ahmad Fayhsal said the proposal to build a motor sports circuit was in the pipeline to improve sports facilities in the state.
"We are proposing this for consideration under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) and it will be built in Gua Musang. We are hoping for good news that it will be approved," he said.
He said sports facilities in Kelantan were the main focus of the ministry as the state would host the 2024 edition of the Malaysia Games (Sukma).
