The final of the National Badminton Championship will see a showdown between Misbun Ramdan Misbun from Selangor and Lim Chi Wing of Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) today.
Defending champion Chi Wing had to work hard to make it to the final by beating Liew Daren of Kuala Lumpur in a dramatic match for 85 minutes at Dewan Seri Perdana of the Sultan Azlan Shah Allied Health Sciences College in Ulu Kinta here last night.
In the rubber set, Daren was forced to settle with 17-21, 21-11, 30-29.
"I'm not angry or disappointed...Luck was just not on my side and I will continue to clinch the national title next year," Daren told reporters here.
As for Chi Wing, after beating the main selection, he wanted to make sure that the title would not fall into the hands of others.
Meanwhile, Misbun Ramdan said he would enjoy the game and give his best at the final instead of putting pressure on himself.
"My target was only to reach the qualifying round but Alhamdulillah, I managed to come this far. So, I will just do what my dad told me, that is to just enjoy the game and play my best," he said.
In the semi-finals, the 2012 national champion defeated Chong Yee Han (BAM) 21-9, 27-29, 21-11.
In women's singles event, M.Thinaah (BAM) will play against teammate Lim Yin Fun at the finals today.

In men's doubles event, two BAM's pairs Ong Yew Sin-Tan Wee Kiong and Tan Chee Tean-Tan Wee Gieen will play against each other after defeating their opponents in the semi-finals.
