Malaysian Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) warrior princess Ann ‘Athena’ Osman made an impressive comeback when she beat Egyptian fighter Haiat Farag during the ONE: Dynasty Of Champions in Hefei, China, last night.
After eight months since her last fight, Ann dominated the flyweight contest of the ONE Championship bout in less than four minutes of the first round.
Haiat put on an aggressive start by dominating Ann in the first few minutes, landing powerful strikes on the 30-year-old Sabahan, including a few throws.
Soon, both fighters were grappling on the floor but Ann saw an opportunity and quickly submitted her opponent with a reverse armbar to emerge with a stunning victory.
Ann, in her response after the fight, said she took some time to study her opponent before getting into the cage.
“I love to study and research, so I took a little time to study her. In the fight, I lowered my stance as my opponent was a wrestler, and even heard my coach AJ telling me to do so.
“She really played her wrestling game well. But I managed to keep calm and find space (to execute my moves),” said Ann.
Her last victory was during ONE Championship’s ‘Age Of Champions’ in Kuala Lumpur on March 13, 2015 where she beat Walaa Abbas - also an Egyptian.
Ann is the country's first female pro-MMA fighter, who possesses superb wrestling skills and powerful ground and pound technique, making her a tough matchup for any opponent.
This is her fourth victory in her professional career as a mixed martial artist.
