Malaysia may have lost the prestigious Thomas Cup, but there is still hope for the country as local mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Nik ‘The Bloodhound’ Harris is set to dominate his opponent during the ONE Fighting Championship’s (ONE FC) fight, on Friday.
Nik will face Brad Robinson from the United States in the catchweight category which will be held at Singapore Indoor Stadium.
He said his upcoming fight with Robinson is all about vengeance and redemption. The best thing is that he is not doing it for himself but for the Malaysian people.
Nik had previously faced Robinson during the ‘Ultimate Beatdown’ in Johor Baharu two years ago, but lost to the submission grappling champion in a round three judges’ decision.
“This time, I’m clear… I see more with my heart and my eyes than ever before. So this fight, this upcoming fight that’s going to happen tomorrow (Friday)… you’re going to see a very different Nik Harris,” he said when met by Astro AWANI during ONE FC’s weighing in event at Clarke Quay, Singapore.
The Kelantanese lad admitted that he was nervous and scared during his fight with Robinson two years ago.
“The weight cut affected me a lot. I let my emotions govern how I fought,” he explained.
Nik will join another fellow Malaysian, Raymond Tan in ONE FC’s bout at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Friday night. Raymond will face Singapore’s first pro-MMA fighter, Radeem Rahman.
