‘Unbreakable’ is certainly the word to describe five Malaysian MMA warriors as they downed their opponents tremendously at ONE Championship's KL event, Friday night.
In the main event, hometown hero Ev Ting beat Australian Rob Lisita via unanimous decision, after outlasting the latter in three rounds of the lightweight bout.
During the contest held at Stadium Negara, both fighters exhausted each other by exchanging devastating blows —proving that they're almost equally matched.
Despite gaining some advantage after landing a knee to Listita’s face, Ting decided to play smart and not risk any mistakes that could jeopardise his chances of winning.
The two held on until the final bell but the unanimous decision win was given to Ting.
The victory also added Ting’s total win to 12, bringing him closer to a title fight.
“I want a title shot guys, let’s go! Rally for me! I want that strap! Peace out, title shot, warrior spirit. What more do you want?” he said in a post-fight interview.
Victory also sided other Malaysian fighters with the Subba brothers, Gianni and Keanu recording amazing wins over their opponents.
Gianni defeated Yago Bryan of Brazil via unanimous decision, while his younger brother Keanu defeated Waqar Umar from Pakistan via submission in round one.
Malaysian welterweight prospect Agilan Thani extended his undefeated streak to six after beating Filipino fighter, Trestle Tan in just over two minutes of the first round.
After seeing an opening, Agilan slid his arm underneath Tan’s neck, and squeezed it tight to force his opponent to tap out.
In an all-Malaysian bout, former MIMMA featherweight champion Muhammad Aiman scored his first victory inside the ONE cage by downing WBF Asia-Pacific light heavyweight champion Hisyam Samsudin.
Aiman displayed superior striking and grappling skills throughout the match, granting him a unanimous decision win from the judges.
Meanwhile, Malaysian MMA stars Peter Davis and Ann Osman, did not fare as well as their fellow teammates.
Peter lost to Thailand’s Shannon Witatchai, while Ann lost to April Osenio from the Philippines.
