MNCF audit not over - Khairy Jamaluddin
Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin on Tuesday, denied claims that the audit on the Malaysian National Cycling Federation (MNCF) has completed as he himself has not received the audit report.
He said the audit process could not be considered completed so long as he himself had not checked and was satisfied with the report.
"I have not seen the report yet, so how can it be said to be completed," he told reporters after a luncheon to entertain media personnel at the Myanmar SEA Games at a restaurant, here Tuesday.
Khairy's statement refuted MNCF president Datuk Abu Samah Abdul Wahab's claim that the MNCF accounts audit on the RM1.5 million annual fund was completed after two days of audit.
The audit was carried out on the association following complaints that the programme on highway cycling and the expenditure report of MNCF was found to be too general.
MNCF came under the spotlight after the SEA Games last year, when Terengganu Cycling Team (TSG) leading cyclist Mohd Zamri Salleh was dropped for being inactive apart from the poor performance of the highway cycling squad.
The last time the squad won the gold medal was in the Manila SEA Games in 2005.
