Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Mukhriz Tun Dr Mahathir was elected as the Kedah Football Association (KFA) President, effective today, replacing former Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azizan Abdul Razak.
His (Mukhriz) appointment was announced by KFA honorary secretary Syed Khairol Anuar Syed Abidin after a KFA Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) at Wisma Darul Aman, here today, involving 28 delegates.
Syed Khairul said the post has been vacant since Azizan decided to step down in June this year, due to health reasons, and remain the president for the 2013/ 2014 term.
Mukhriz meanwhile, said the appointment was a big responsibility for him because football was a sport that has a big following among the people.
"I wish to thank the previous president for his service and contribution to KFA and football in general," he said.
