The Australian government has finally approved the visa for top national cyclist Azizulhasni Awang in order for him to continue training in Melbourne.
In an e-mail sent to Astro Awani the Malaysian Cycling Federation (MNCF) deputy president Datuk Naim Mohamad confirmed the visa was approved on January 31.
“Azizulhasni’s visa has been approved and we would to thank the Malaysian government, Australian government and the Australian High Commission in Malaysia for their assistance,” said Naim.
Also granted temporary stay Down Under are Azizulhasni's wife Athiah Ilyana Abd Samat and their baby daughter Amma Maryam Mohd Azizulhasni who was born last November.
Azizulhasni, fondly referred as “Pocketrocketman” has been waiting for the visa approval since returning to Malaysia late last year for the birth of his newborn child.
With the approval, Azizulhasni will be able to gear up for the Asia Cycling Championship (ACC) in India in March.
