National weightlifter Mohamad Fazrul Azrie Mohdad smashed three old National records in the men's 85kg category here today.
The 21-year-old from Kuala Rompin, Pahang also set three new Sukan Malaysia (Sukma) records in the process in the Snatch, Clean and Jerk and Overall Weight category.
In the Snatch, Mohamad Fazrul cleared 150kg to overcome the previous National record of 142kg held by Khairul Anuar Mohamad from Armed Forces and set during the National Weightlifting Championships in Penang last year, as well as the Sukma record of 140kg set by Abdul Mubin Rahim during the Sukma hosted by Malacca in 2010.
In the Clean and Jerk, Mohamad Fazrul managed to lift 176kg to beat the old National record of 175kg which was also set by Abdul Mubin at the Malacca Sukma.
His combined total of 326kg again erased Abdul Mubin's 315kg mark.
However, no gold medal was offered for the overall weight category.
