Selangor PKNS FC winger, Mohd Nazmi Faiz Mansor who has been selected to replace injured Kelantan captain Mohd Badhri Mohd Radzi in the national squad, still has to prove himself despite having seen action at the professional level in Europe, said national chief coach Datuk K. Rajagobal.
"We must understand, playing in the European League and representing the country in international friendlies are two different things...this is his opportunity to show his capability although he was placed in the list of 12 stand-by players (to replace those in the main squad unable to make it to the friendlies in Australia).
"I will be observing him in Australia...if he delivers he will give me more options to consider where wingers for the national squad is concerned," he told reporters at Wisma FAM di Kelana Jaya here, where the Harimau Malaya (national squad) are in centralised training, today.
Mohd Nazmi, 18, who played for Portuguese division one side SC Beira Mar last year made a sudden decision to return home early and subsequently signed a three-year contract with Super League outfit Selangor PKNS FC.
The squad is scheduled to will play friendlies with Canberra All Stars on June 6, Marconi Stallions FC (June 11) and Sydney United FC (June 13) as part of their preparation for the 2015 Asian Cup pre-qualifier home match against Bahrain in Group D (Malaysia are in third position out of four teams, the others being Qatar and Yemen), on Oct 17.
