It is up to Datuk Nicol David to decide if the wants to return to Kuala Lumpur to undergo training, said Youth and Sports Ministry secretary-general, Datuk Lokman Hakim Ali.
This followed a suggestion from the Malaysian Squash Racquets Association (SRAM) which wanted Nicol to train here to boost her performance.
When asked to comment on the issue, he said performance depend on many factors such as training venue, surrounding and the ecosystem.
"So, if she feels comfortable training in Amsterdam, Holland, which can make her perform at her best, so be it," he told reporters, here Sunday.
Lokman was confident Nicol would rise from her disappointment of exiting the United States Open in the quarter finals to Egyptian player, Raneem El Welily.
"Maybe, she should work on her techniques and her psychology to return at the peak of her performance and to be feared by opponents," he said.
Lokman was met at 2016 Fun Run Batik event organised by Yayasan Budi Penyayang Malaysia which was also participated by Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin and family.
The programme was participated by about 2,000 people in conjunction with FIT Malaysia campaign to promote a healthy life style and maintain the culture of wearing baik as a national heritage via a 'fun walk'. -- BERNAMA
