The Pahang Football Association (PBNP) will not take any action against two Pahang footballers caught on suspicion of having committed 'khalwat' (close proximity) until the Pahang Islamic Religious Department (Jaip) completed its investigation.
PBNB secretary-general Fuzzeimi Ibrahim said as the matter was under Jaip's jurisdiction, PBNB could not take any action against the players until the investigation is completed.
"We leave it to Jaip to carry out its investigation first.
"Tengku Muda of Pahang Tengku Abdul Rahman Sultan Ahmad Shah, who is PBNP president, will make an official announcement after Jaip's investigation is completed.
"I cannot give further comment as I am worried it might affect Jaip's investigation," he told Bernama at a Merdeka Cup dinner in honour of participating teams here Thursday night.
The two players were allegedly caught with a woman each in separate rooms at a hotel here by Jaip enforcement officers at about 4.30am yesterday.
The officers were tipped off by a member of the public who suspected that the unmarried footballers had checked into the hotel with two women in their 20s.
The source said the footballers and the women were taken to the Jaip office for further investigation.
