Losing her arms and legs to a severe bacterial infection and gangrene did not stop 2003 SEA Games shooting bronze medallist Aishah Samad from living her life.

In fact, the incident opened a new phase in her life and now lives by the words painted on her prosthetic leg by a street artist: “I want. I can & I will succeed.”

According to EPA, Aishah has had to relearn how to do basic things in life that most people take for granted, like brushing her teeth and drink from a glass, since the amputation of her arms and legs.

Now thanks to her newly fitted bionic prosthetic arms and legs, Singapore’s former national shooter plans to pick up the rifle again and return to her beloved sport and compete in the next Asian Para games or Paralympic games.

While she waits for her personalised rifle to be shipped to her, sponsored by German arms manufacturer Walther, Aishah continues to train hard for the Games in Incheon, South Korea.
