Players who jump ship 'illegally' have no principle - Tengku Abdullah

The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) Deputy President Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah chided players who 'jump' from one team to another without the knowledge of their teams, as players without principle.

Tengku Abdullah said though the FAM had already set guidelines for players to move from one team to another, players continue to flout the rules by making deals without informing their respective teams.

"It is very unprofessional...we cannot blame the FAM or state teams...players must have principles because this is not a new issue. It happens all the time though not all players are involved.

"The action of the few however, tarnishes the image of the nation," he told reporters after giving out assistance from Yayasan Istana Sultan Abdul Aziz to about 300 children affected by floods in Kuantan, here today.

Pahang player Amirulhadi Zainal's move to Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) has suddenly rocked the football scene in the country as it was found that he had already signed a two-year contract with Pahang.

Tengku Abdullah however, urged both parties to resolve the issue amicably.

"I hope the problem can be resolved in their personal capacity. Players must hold on to their commitment. I feel no indispensable but players must respect the contract they have signed," he said.
