Malaysians, especially badminton fans have been urged to pray for a positive result of the 'doping case' of former world number one player Datuk Lee Chong Wei.
Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Norza Zakaria said a positive result will enable Chong Wei to play and hopefully win the elusive gold medal at the 2016 Rio Janeiro Olympic Games.
"I am confident that he is in good condition and is prepared for the case hearing," he told reporters after witnessing the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Permanis Sandilands Sdn Bhd and Curtin University, Sarawak with the National Sports Institute (ISN), here today.
Norza was confident that with all the evidence collected by the lawyer, a positive result could be achieved at the case hearing.
"I do not want to be subjudice but as BAM leader, I want to see Chong Wei continue with his badminton career.
"With our preparation and hiring of a very famous lawyer in sports cases, I believe that we have done our best for Chong Wei," he added.
Chong Wei,33, was suspended by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) after testing positive for dexamethasone at the World Championships in Copenhagen in Aug 2014.
The silver medalist at 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Olympic Games was suspended by BWF on Nov 11, 2014 while waiting for case hearing in Amsterdam on April 11.
Chong Wei left for London yesterday accompanied by his personal lawyer, BAM general manager Kenny Goh and BAM council member Jadadish Chandra.
In London, Chong Wei will meet with Mike Morgan (lawyer appointed by the Youth and Sports Ministry), before leaving for Amsterdam, the Netherlands to attend the case hearing.
