The federal administrative capital, Putrajaya, will host the Time Ironman 70.3 Putrajaya for the second time this Sunday.

A statement from its sponsor, Time Fibre Optic Communications, said over 1,300 athletes from 55 countries around the world would participate in the challenge themed 'Race In Putrajaya, The Intelligent Garden City'.

International athletes make up 64 percent of the participant list, with Malaysia having the largest participation, followed by Singapore, the statement said.

The Ironman 70.3 series refers to the total distance covered in the race in miles, which is 113km, beginning with 1.9km swim, 90km cycling and ends with a 21km run.

Ironman Asia-Pacific CEO, Geoff Meyer in a media conference in conjunction with the challenge here today said the number of triathletes in Malaysia had grown significantly from the first Ironman 70.3 Putrajaya last year.

Putrajaya Corporation vice president (Finance), Datuk Rogaizat Abdullah, on the other hand, said with wide spaced roads, pedestrian walks and scenic view, Putrajaya would definitely provide one of the best landscapes for such event.
