The Public Works Department (PWD) is investigating the incident of the National Velodrome's roof collapse in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, last Saturday.
Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar said the incident has caused a delay in the construction works but would not affect preparations for the 2017 Sea Games.
Khairy said PWD's forensic unit will determine the delay period.
"Part of the roof frame collapsed on June 18 and is currently being investigated by PWD's forensic unit. This project is handled by PWD even though although the owner of the Velodrome is the ministry," he said on Monday.
The incident involved seven frames falling out of their positions.
On Saturday, the National Velodrome project which is still under construction, suffered a setback after parts of the roof structure collapsed.
However, no injuries or fatalities happened during the incident.
The project's construction started at the end of last year and is scheduled for completion this July but was delayed due to land acquisition issues .
The project worth RM80 million is expected to be completed by the beginning of 2017 SEA Games, scheduled to be held in August.
