National shuttler Datuk Lee Chong Wei has to be wise in dealing with the psychological warfare that he will be facing in the semi-final match tonight.

Astro Arena’s sports analyst Rizal Hashim when commenting on Chong Wei’s chance at the Olympic gold said that the advantage is in favour of Chong Wei’s arch enemy Lin Dan based on the records from their previous matches.

He, however, said Chong Wei must use the Rio Olympic 2016 platform to the best of his ability as he is still without an Olympic medal despite earning the top-ranked player status.

This is the third match between Chong Wei and Lin Dan in the Olympics.

In London and Beijing Olympics, Chong Wei won silver medals for Malaysia.

Meanwhile, former national coach Rashid Sidek told Bernama that Chong Wei must be alert of the psychological game that would be used by Lin Dan.

“Both of these players have almost the same playing style, but Chong Wei must be careful with various tricks that will be used by his arch rival,” said the 1996 Atlanta Olympics bronze medallist to Bernama.

Rashid, who once coached Chong Wei, said the player had advantages in terms of attacking and smashing shots.

“He needs to diversify his game, such as the ‘fast-play’ and ‘rally’, if not ‘Super Dan’ will easily read his steps,” he said.
